ABOUT KITA

Hi, I'm Kita Parnell.

I’m a St. Louis–based illustrator and artist who loves creating colorful, whimsical work inspired by everyday life, storytelling, anime and manga, and the expressive world of Western animation.

My work often features people, pets, food, books, and slice-of-life moments, with a particular interest in creating inclusive and diverse characters and stories. I love finding humor and warmth in ordinary experiences and turning those moments into illustrations that invite people to smile, connect, or see something familiar in a new way.

I primarily create digital artwork using Procreate, while also working in watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencil. I enjoy moving between digital and traditional mediums depending on the story, mood, or idea I want to explore.

WHAT I CREATE

MY PRACTICE

MY BACKGROUND

My creative education began at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley, where I earned an AFA in Graphic Communications. I continued my studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design, earning a BA in Illustration.

My work has been exhibited at St. Louis Community College, SCAD, the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, and the St. Louis County Library. I’ve also created illustrations, logos, greeting cards, book illustrations, and event artwork for clients, friends, and family.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

When I’m not drawing, I’m usually reading manga or mysteries, playing video games, cooking, listening to music, watching classic movies or stand-up, solving puzzles, or taking leisurely walks. I’m also a big fan of good food, interesting stories, and spending time with my cats.
